Being a Najdeh girl

Working with Association Najdeh was the most liberating experience I have ever lived.

It’s not just about work. It’s about building your personality as a woman.

Since the first day I was feeling special being a “Najdeh” girl.

During my first year, I attended intensive training workshops about human/women rights, gender discrimination and seminars on right to work for Palestinian refugees.

I was aware of being a refugee and aware of the Palestinian situation but Najdeh polarized all my issues and made me skilled and well informed about my rights as a woman and about my rights as a Palestinian refugee. They equipped me with the tools needed to defend my rights; they enhanced my skills of defense in a civilized way.

From a different perspective I became able to see the world. As I mentioned it’s not just work, it’s about passion; if you worked passionately then you are not working, that was the situation working with Najdeh.

In my second year, I was assigned for new tasks, new responsibilities and that was even more challenging. A girl with zero experience in the world of civil society just started to be so much involved and excited.

Each day was different than the day before, each day a new skill is acquired, each day was a lesson.

When you are at Najdeh, you can’t but love the big family that you are belonging to. Women with 30 years experience on ground, each one of them enchants you with the challenging stories she lived as a Najdeh member. “Sabah”, “Leila”, “Khadije”, “Amina”, “Bothaina”, “Fatmeh”, “Sheikha”; all of them can be described as the golden pillars of Association Najdeh.

I learnt a lots, and listened a lots, but what I gained and appreciated mostly is the bond of friendship with these great women who dedicated their life for the sake of the Palestinian civil community in all camps in Lebanon.

After my father died, I needed more time to spend with my mother, I left Najdeh and my heart is with each single person there.

They didn’t let me go and hugged me back as a social media officer. That is a reward on my chest to represent such an honorable organization working to empower women.
